Evolution of czepeda
The evolution of czepeda.com recent redesign or an actual design started early July of 2009. It started as most websites or any design that I do on a sketchpad. I knew before I started sketching that I wanted the website to be simple and clean.
It started off like that but at times I would get too creative and the end result of the sketches would sometimes end up looking very busy. The beginning was pretty much erasing, sketching, erasing, sketching over and over. After a bit of frustration I dropped the sketchpad and didn’t work on the website for awhile, probably about a week away from it. Once I had some time to relax my thoughts on the website I jumped back in and viola, it started to come together piece by piece. At first it was the homepage content, which was only a summary of the article and a graphic to go along with the article. I started with the layout of each section and then I included the typography. The typography I chose was Gill Sans for the headers, Hoefler Text which is a bit similar to Times for paragraphs. The reason I chose these fonts was for the ease of reading and also because they are usually found in most people’s computers.
I was quite happy with the selection that I had chosen for the typography. Also excited because I had finally done a proper job of working with a good font stack instead of using the regular fonts that most of us tend to use. Those would be Arial, Verdana, Times, Georgia, etc. The font stack for the headers I chose are starting from preferred font to the least preferred Gill Sans, Helvetica, Arial and sans-serif. For the global font or paragraphs Hoefler Text, Times New Roman, Times and serif. Well, enough of this talk and check out the screenshots of the progress of the making of czepeda.com.
